Hi! My name is Cecile and I live and work in Washington D.C. My job has nothing to do with beauty, so I created this blog to share my passion and interest. I hope this blog will bring you useful advice, and beauty inspiration!
I am a half French half Polish, fully European but definitely Korean wannabe, beauty obsessed person. I enjoy travelling and living in different countries (I already lived in 6 and counting!). I am slowly approaching my thirties, so I start to introduce some wrinkle skincare in my routine. I am writing about all kinds of cosmetics and different ranges of products, I love to experiment and for me, the price is not at all a guarantee of quality. I have a fair and sensitive skin so I struggle with problems such as photosensitivity (I can get dark spots from sun and I easily get sunburns) or skin rash (especially around my nose).
I love everything Korean – cosmetics, food (I confess, I am addicted to Kimchi), K-pop, K-Dramas (yes, I am a huge drama fan! if you are as well let’s connect on My dramalist!), Manhwa, Korean movies you name it! Occasionally my Korean friends think I am crazy, when I happen to know all the latest Korean entertainment gossips better than them.
Why I love Korean cosmetics?
Well, simply because they are the best! The Korean cosmetics industry is so much ahead compared to the US or even Europe (I have to admit it kind of hurts my French pride) think BB creams, sheet face masks and more recently cushion makeup. They also follow strict beauty protocols, and the Korean women demand high quality products for a fair price, which is totally possible in Korea, thanks to the sustained competition on the beauty market. Korean cosmetics introduced me to original formulas (think snails and fermentation) in beautiful packaging for an accessible price for most of them. So I ditched without hard feelings my Sephora VIB card and I immersed myself in everything Korean.
My only regret is that in Washington D.C there is no satisfactory skincare store carrying Korean cosmetics, so I buy a lot of skincare online. My reviews will mainly target cosmetics you can find on websites easily accessible in the States, or some stores such as Urban Outfitters.
Full disclosure – I do occasionally cheat with some Japanese products and I am not always satisfied with Korean makeup – more on that in my future posts!
I am not affiliated to any brand, nor do I receive any kind of financial compensation for my reviews. All my posts express my private opinion about tested skincare and makeup.
Say hi in comments. I would love to hear from you!
